Poet 1: Motes

The shutters do not quite meet. So from
where he sits, if there is sunlight, there is
always a parallel universe revealed
by chance in an eternity of afternoon.
To one side of this universe, on a brocaded
chair, the poet observes a maneuvering
of motes, knocking at the doors of galaxies,
discovering worlds that cannot be known
until they are written.
